Responsive web braking system for plant making e.g. paper or plastic tubing from sheets

This new plant processes at least two webs (5-5''') of e.g. paper or plastic sheet, preferably to make flexible tubing. There are at least two rolls of material (2, 2a), each mounted in unspooling units (1, 1a). Withdrawal rollers (9, 10) in the feed unit draw off the web, feeding them into the plant (8). The new feature is introduction of separate braking units (30) between unspooling units and withdrawal rollers. These are actuated, should the withdrawal rollers stop for a short interval, or if sharp feed deceleration is required.
