Two hinge parts (1,6b) have a bore (7) for a coupling pin (9) whose head (9a) adapts to a countersink (7a,7b) at one end of the bore (7). The far end of the pin (9) is riveted (9b) and the endface (9d) of the pin is offset inwards level with the countersink (7a). The distance (e) between the pin (9) head (9a) endface and the opening plane of the countersink (7a) is 0.02-0.2 mm and the countersink should be conical or in cylinder form. To assemble the tongs, the two drilled hinge parts are positioned and the pin inserted so its head (9a) sits in the countersink (7a) at the one end of the bore (7) as against the far end of the pin which here projects outwards. The component is then placed on a table so the pin end (9a) and countersink (7a) rest on the table as against the far end (b) which is thus exposed for riveting to complete the tongs join.
