The crop is lifted and first rough graded on an initial sorter which has a number of taper rollers over parallel transporters. This rough grades the crop into different sizes. The parallel flow lines are passed over two transporters moving at different rates and with optical graders to grade the separate flows. The optical graders control tilt and rejection drives to discard debris and stones as well as non standard crop items. The separate parts of the grader are assembled in a modular manner depending on the grading requirements.
