Variable stroke damping mechanism for upright piano(s)

An original damping mechanism for pianos, comprising for each fixed section (222) a pivoting damper arm (225) permitting the damper to be laid onto, and raised away from, the string, each having a lifting section (220) with lifting section top piece (221) fastened to the fixed section (222) at a pivot (AF). The arrangement transmits turning of the lifting section to the damper arm, with the spacing of engagement point of damper-operating element on the damper arm, to the pivot point (AF) of the lifting section of the damping mechanism, having variable length; being smaller for higher tones than for the lower ones.
