The device consists of a vehicle (1) with a steam generator (2) with steam nozzles. These form a beam (5), supported under the vehicle on a full-width carrier (6). The carrier is formed as a hood, open at the bottom. The nozzle beam is adjustable in direction of travel on the hood base. The nozzle beam has two or more rows of nozzles, which are at different angles to the direction of travel. Pivoted side carrier sections (7) are also formed as hoods. The pivot axis (B) of the sections is mounted on the vehicle so as to be adjustable in height and at right angles to the direction of travel.
