Mechanical lock control device for the outside locking of a vehicle side door

The external mechanical locking device includes a rotating barrel (11) fitted with a part (16) transmitting its rotation to a lock lever. A rod (7) connects the barrel and a manual activating key. A yoke (9) is located inside the barrel about an axis (YY) perpendicular to the barrel rotational axis (ZZ). The rod is articulated by one (8) of its ends inside the yoke about a third axis (XX) perpendicular to the others. This assembly forms a universal coupling. The barrel is arranged in a housing (14) which receives the yoke enabling it to rotate around its longitudinal axis (YY). The housing is sectioned to allow rotational coupling of the yoke and barrel causing it to rotate about its longitudinal axis (ZZ). The barrel is provided with means (17,19) for pre-positioning the yoke in the housing with the yoke ends (9a) engaged in opposite openings (15) in the barrel wall.
