[Also in Division B3] An electrical machine, e.g. small D.C. motor or generator, cylindrical coil winding is made by winding conductor wire 3 into a rhomboid shape upon a four-sided quasi-prism, Fig. 5, with the turns mutually displaced by at least one diameter; flattening this shape, Fig. 1; curving it to form a cylinder. Fig. 3; and joining the ends together to form the complete winding, Fig. 4. The single layer coil may have tappings 4 and be reinforced by a band, the turns, of varnished or enamelled wire, being connected together by an adhesive. |
