A surgical swab management system comprises at least one bag having a row 12 of pockets 10, each pocket holding a sterile surgical swab so that the swab is visible in the pocket, the bags being mountable on a frame. Preferably the pockets in each row are fabricated from translucent plastic, e.g. polythene, and are closeable by a laterally extending transverse strip 16 which is secured by a permanent adhesive. The system preferably includes a frame (22, Figure 2) comprising three staggered horizontal bars (36, Figure 2) to mount three bags, and a sterile drape may be provided between the frame and the bags. The bars of the frame may have locating means (36, Figure 2) for clips (38, Figure 5) which are provided for securing the drape to the frame. Each clip may also be provided with a hook (42, Figure 5) for cooperation with a slot 20 provided on a bag to facilitate the mounting of the bags. The system allows the swabs to be counted before and after an operation. |
