The present invention provides a composite turnbuckle (10) comprising a pair of co-axial and spaced annular end fittings (12). Each end fitting (12) has a threaded interior surface (11) and an outer surface. The end fittings (12) are made of metal. The turnbuckle (10) has a body (14) that extends between the end fittings (12). The body (14) includes a non-metallic material. The end fittings (12) are secured to the body (14) to limit relative axial movement between the end fittings (12) and the body (14).
