PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal-orienting agent enabling to form liquid crystal-orienting films expressing high pre-tilt angles, high in voltage retainability, little in afterimages and excellent in film thickness uniformity, and useful for display elements, etc., by including a polyamic acid, etc containing a specific solvent in a prescribed. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal-orienting agent comprises a solution containing one or more kinds of polymers selected from polyamic acids and their imide polymers, and contains 5-95wt.% of one or more kinds of solvents of the formula [(Y<1> , Y<2> are each H, a halogen, hydroxyl group, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C alkoxy, phenyl; (a) is 2-6], such as 1,2-propylene carbonate. |
