PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject new non-toxic substance produced by a specific microorganism of the genus Streptomyces, active as an antibiotic substance, having high tolerance and effectively inhibiting human immunodeficiency virus. SOLUTION: This substance is a compound of the formula, its salt or its chemically equivalent substance. It has the following properties. Appearance, colorless; solubility, soluble in methanol, acetonitrile and water; stability, stable under neutral or moderately alkaline conditions and unstable in strongly acidic or strongly alkaline solution; molecular formula, C95 H97 N13 O30 ; molecular weight, 1900.90; etc. The compound can be produced by the fermentation with a microorganism HAG 4674 (DSM 11171) of the genus Streptomyces, its variant or mutant. The fermentation is preferably carried out in a nutrient solution containing 1-2% of oat flake and a minor element solution of 0.2-0.3% concentration under aerobic condition at 25-30 deg.C and pH5.5-8.5 for 24-140hr. |
