PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a benzothiazole color that can give a high-density clearly magenta recording excellent in light fastness at a low energy when applied to a thermal transfer sheet. SOLUTION: This dye is represented by the formula [wherein R<1> is a 3-8C branched alkyl, desirably isobutyl, 2-ethylhexyl; R<2> is a (substituted) alkyl, desirably a 2-4C alkyl which may be substituted with a 1-4C alkoxyl, allyloxy or phenoxy; X is H, a lower alkyl, formylamine, a lower alkylcarbonylamino, a lower alkoxycarbonylamino or benzoylamino; Y is Cl or Br; and Z is H or Y]. An ink obtained by dissolving or dispersing this dye and a binder (e.g. AS resin) in a medium (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone and toluene) is applied to a base film and dried to obtain the thermal transfer sheet. |
