<p>Vinyl or acrylic monomers, pref. (meth)acrylic acid, styrene, (meth)acrylonitrile, vinyl or vinylidene chloride, or vinyl acetate, are reacted with a (co)poly-alpha-olefin containing at least one >3C monomer and having an unsaturation rate above 0.05 weight %, in the presence of benzoyl peroxide or t-butyl perbenzoate at a temp. sufficient to decompose the catalyst with free radical formation and graft the monomers with polymerisation on to the (co)poly-alpha-olefins. The products have high tensile and impact stength, and can be extruded or injection-moulded to shock panels and heating pipes for cars, combs, etc.</p> |
