PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine in which the wash is washed, rinsed, and spin dried in a drum furnished rotatably around a horizontal shaft, wherein generations of large vibrations and noises are precluded when the drum is driven at a high speed in the spin drying process by allowing the washing to attached to the inner wall of the drum uniformly before entering the spin drying process. SOLUTION: A drum 1 accommodating the wash is rotated round a horizontal shaft by the first motor 15 at the first revolving speed N1, and then rotated by the second motor 16 at the second revolving speed N2, wherein revolving speeds of the first and second motors 15 and 16 are controlled by a control device 20. Before driving at the second revolving speed N2, the control device 20 raises the drum revolving speed from the first revolving speed N1 at the first rate of speed rise, and then raises to a third revolving speed N3 at the second rate of speed rise.
