PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a linear motor efficiently by reducing a space between a primary side and a secondary side of the linear motor when a vehicle is floated. SOLUTION: A linear type shuttle has an air pad blowing the air toward a rail 5, an under carriage 2 floated from the rail by the air pad 4, a primary side 6a of a linear motor mounted for moving up and down on this under carriage 2 for traveling the under carriage associated with a secondary side 6b on a rail, a brake skid 11 mounted on the under carriage 2 and frictionally contacting with the rail when this under carriage is not floated from the rail, an actuation lever 17 for supporting the primary side on the under carriage for moving up and down, a spring 23 normally urging the primary side 6a upward through this actuation lever 17 and an electromagnet 20 for moving the primary side 6a downward to a designated position with respect to the secondary side 6b against urging force of this spring 23. |
