PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an excellent lightbastness, by forming an aqueous recording liquid comprising an azo chelate compound, a water-soluble organic solvent and water. SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula I is one of examples. An azo chelate compound represented by formula II, wherein R is H or a monovalent organic substituent (a 1-16C linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group or the like), X and Y are CR' wherein R' is H or a monovalent organic substituent or a nitrogen atom, Z represents atoms required to form an aromatic or heterocylic ring and M is a di-or more valent metal, is use as dye. Preferably, M is Co, Cu or Ni and a ligand is water, a halogen ion and a sulfate ion. A recording liquid is prepared by compounding 0.1 to 20.0wt.% of an azo chelate compound, 1.0 to 98.9wt.% of water and 1.0 to 98.9wt.% of a water-soluble organic solvent such as an alcohol, wherein the total amount of the components is taken as 100wt.%, and further, if desired, a viscosity-adjusting agent, a surface tension-adjusting agent, a dispersant and the like. It is preferred that the surface tension at a temperature during flying of the recording liquid is 15 dyne/cm or more. |
