A battery or cell of generally cylindrical shape in which the casing is formed .by an electrode has the casing formed with a screwthread 10. The battery or cell is screwed into apparatus 12 in which it is to be used .As shown in Fig. 2 the battery is formed as a headless screw with one terminal 15 at one end and with a slot 11 in the other end. The depth of penetration of the battery into the apparatus is limited iby shoulder 13 and, optionally, gasket 14. Electrical contact is made between the threaded wall 12 of the apparatus and the threaded electrode 10 and between terminal 15 and stud 16. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) the cell or battery is formed as a screw with a head which limits the depth of penetration. The slot may be replaced by a polygonal male or female contour which co-operates with a female or male key. |
