A cam switch unit comprises a casing 1, a cam 2, Fig. 5 (not shown), mounted centrally in casing 1, cam 2 moving member 6 carrying movable contact 7 bridging fixed contacts 5, member 6 and contacts 7, 5 being in one of a plurality of cavities 4 on opposite sides of cam 2, each of cavities 4 being closed by a cover 12. Movable contact 7 is spring urged to the closed position by spring 9 backed by a plate 8 bearing against the outer wall of cavity 4. In the contacts open position, member 6 projects through window 11 in the outer wall of cavity 4 to provide a visual indication. A visual indication is also provided by opening 12b in cover 12 through which shoulder 14 on member 6 can be seen, opening 12b also serving to provide access for a screwdriver to hold back member 6 when inserting cam 2. A number of switch units can be assembled in a stack, Fig. 1 (not shown), by means of connectors 16 comprising captive screw-threaded stems, with an external screw thread underneath casing 1 which screws into an internally threaded socket 16d at the top of each connector 16. |
