摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize shift control and to improve vehicle running capability by controlling, when driver's intention of acceleration or deceleration is detected by intention detecting means, a transmission gear ratio according to the acceleration or deceleration intention of the driver prior to automatic control for the transmission gear ratio of an automatic transmission performed according to traveling resistance. SOLUTION: For performing shift control for an automatic transmission 2 by a control unit 50, the generated torque of an engine 1 is calculated based on detecting signals from a throttle sensor 9 and a crank angle sensor 11 by referring to a preset table or the like. Then, whether a car speed detected by a car speed sensor 8 is larger than 0 or not is determined and, if YES, vehicle acceleration is detected. Traveling resistance is calculated and, if calculated traveling resistance is smaller than a preset setting value 1, traveling on a descending slope road is determined, a descending slope road shift map set for descending slope road traveling is selected, a transmission stage for shifting is decided from this map and, according to the result of its comparison with a current transmission stage, shift control is performed during a braking operation.
