SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSION AND SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL CONTAINING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the silver halide photosensitive emulsion high in the grain surface absorbance per unit area and the photographic sensitive material using this emulsion by incorporating a dye and a metal ion having a specified coordi nate bond constant. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic emulsion contains the dye and the metal ions having a coordinate bond constant of 3×10<2> and the total dye addition amount of >=140% of the saturation coating amount, and it contains at least one of compounds represented by the formula in which MET is a methine dye; Q is an alkyl group having a ligand group to a metal atom; and (n) is an integer of 1-10. The emulsion contains transition metal ions except silver and gold ions (including later transition metal ions) in an amount of >=1/10mols on the outsides of the silver halide grains.
