The pneumatic tyre comprises carcass (5) layers (6, 7) with textile cords having modulus of elasticity 20-1000 daN/mm<2> and angled at 30 deg -90 deg with respect to the equator. The belt (10) has two crossed plies (11, 12), with textile cords of modulus 50-2000 daN/mm<2> inclined at 10 deg -45 deg to the equator. These are orientated with an angle 5 deg -35 deg greater than the angle of inclination of the cords of the other belt ply, across the width of the tyre. Also claimed is the method of mounting the tyre on either side of a four-wheeled vehicle. The inclination to the equatorial, of the cords of one crossed belt ply, is greater by 10 deg -20 deg than the angle of inclination of the cables of the other belt ply related to the width of the tyre. The tyre is mounted on each of the front wheels, the direction of the most highly inclined cords being the same on each side. A similar arrangement is described for the rear wheels. The inclination may be the same on each axle, but may differ from front to rear. Further variations are described, based on these principles. |
