PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium for CD-R medium capable of recording and reproducing in the existing system and also only reproducing in a next- generational high density optical disk system and a recording and reproducing method using this recording medium. SOLUTION: Fundamental constitution of the optical information recording medium consists of a substrate 1/a 1st recording layer 2-1/a 2nd recording layer 2-2/a metal reflecting layer 5/a protective layer 4, and the optical information recording medium has recording layers consisting of laminating layers of the 1st recording layer 2-1 having a main component of organic pigment with absorbing power in a wavelength range 630-640nm and the 2nd recording layer 2-2 having a main component of organic pigment with absorbing power in a wavelength range 770-800nm, and this recording medium is recorded by laser beams in the wavelength ranges 630-640nm and 770-800nm respectively, and then optical changes induced by effects of heat or light of the laser beams in these wavelengths 630-640nm and 770-800nm are reproduced by their respective wavelength lasers, thus establishing the recording and reproducing method concerned. |
