PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce internal resistance and polarization in an electrode by allowing improvement of mechanical strength and reduction of weight of an electrochemical cell to be compatible. SOLUTION: An electrochemical cell has a self support type substrate forming one electrode and a solid electrolyte film 4 formed on this substrate and an other electrode 5 formed on the solid electrolyte film 4. The substrate 2 is made into ceramic honeycomb structure 2. Thickness of a wall part 2a contacting with the solid electrolyte film 4 in the ceramic honeycomb structure 2 is 0.5mm or less. Preferably, the one electrode 2 is a positive electrode.
