The system is housed in a container within which is a detector probe (1) to detect an alarm, and a coder (6) to code the alarm message to allow identification. A radio wave frequency is sent from a transmitter (7) via an aerial (8) to a central location. A receiver detects the signal, and alerts the operator to an alarm. The alarm message is one way to the central unit and can be repeated (5) a number of times.
