摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage detector which allows improvement of the sensitivity in voltage sensing to a great extent, can widen the degree of freedom of the inpendance matching characteristics of an electrode part for modulation, and can work well with voltage sensing for high frequency signals over one GHz. SOLUTION: This voltage detector is equipped with the first Y-branched waveguide path 1, a pair of electrodes 4 and 5 installed over and under a waveguide path 3a, and the second Y-branched waveguide path 2, and the impressed voltage between the electrodes 4 and 5 is determined on the basis of the intensity of the output light from the second Y-branched waveguide path 2. Because of provision of the electrodes 4 and 5 in the described arrangement, the sensitivity in voltage sensing is improved to a great extent, and will be further improved if the waveguide paths are formed from an organic material. Adoption of an electrode structure of progressive wave type allows to work well with voltage sensing for high frequency signals.</p>
