PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical material which has excellent heat resistance and moisture resistance, is low in loss at the two main communication wavelengths of a near IR region and obviates the occurrence of cracks in a waveguide production stage by incorporating a copolymer consisting of specific repeating units into the material. SOLUTION: The copolymer consisting of the repeating units expressed by formula I and formula II are incorporated into this optical material. In the formulas I, II, Z1 , Z2 denote phenyl groups or deuterium substd phenyl groups which are the same or different. The raw material components derived by the repeating units expressed by the formula I include, for example, phenyl trichlorosilane, deuterated. phenyl trichlorosilane, etc. The raw material components derived by the repeating units expressed by the formula II include, for example, 1,4-bis(hexafluoro-2-hydroxyisopropyl)benzene, etc. |
