PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation system in which a registered location in the vicinity of current position can be notified to a user even when the user is driving a car. SOLUTION: The car navigation system comprises a CD-ROM 15 storing a map data, a microprocessor 24 for calculating the current position of a car based on the outputs from various sensors 11-13 and reading out a map data in the vicinity of current position from the CD-ROM 15 through a driver 16, and a display processor 23 for presenting the current position along with the map data in the vicinity thereof on a display 17, and a sound generator 28. The microprocessor 24 has a function for setting an arbitrary point on the map as a registered location according to a command from a user, and a function for detecting a registered location within a specified range from the current position. When a registered location is detected by means of the microprocessor 24, the sound generator 28 delivers an alarm sound through a speaker 27. |
