PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate generation of pin hole, improve corrosion resistance and enhance the performance of a connector in the subject method, by applying a continuous electropolishing process prior to a plating step. SOLUTION: A surface is made rough after a pressing work is finished, and flaws and cracks generate thereon as shown in Fig. (a). Then, it is made smooth after electropolishing process is applied thereto as shown in Fig. (b). Thereafter, a coat as shown by the hatched region is provided on the smooth surface as shown in Fig. (c). Since a plating coat is provided on a relatively smooth surface, it can be used as a connector even with the relatively thin plating, and sealing hole treatment is not required. The surface smoothing treatment may be done to a level where no pin hole is generated finally at the plating coat, and though it relates to the amount of plating it is generally preferable to have the average surface roughness Ra in a range less than 0.1μm.
