PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel to supply electrons to start and hold discharge by adopting a ferroelectric cathode. SOLUTION: A plasma display panel contains front and back base boards 31 and 34, plural anodes 32 formed in a stripe shape on an opposed surface of the front base board 31, a lower electrode 35 where an electrode material is applied to the entire opposed surface of the back base board 34, a dielectric layer 37 where a dielectric material is applied to the entire upper surface of the lower electrode 35, an upper electrode 36 where an electrode material is applied in a prescribed pattern to a part of the upper surface of the dielectric layer 37 and lattice-shaped barrier ribs 38 arranged between the upper electrode 36 and the front base board 31, and a part 37a of the dielectric layer 37 which exists between the barrier ribs 38 and to which the upper electrode 36 is not applied, forms a picture element. Therefore, since a ferroelectric material of the lower electrode 35 is excellent in resistance force to discharge gas, a loss of electrode by the gas is reduced, and since electrons necessary for discharge are sufficiently supplied from a ferroelectric cathode, even if starting voltage of initial discharge is low, discharge can be performed. |
