摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly maintain an adequate releasing force without increasing the releasing force to release an engaging member from a tapered space, by making a wedging angle almost constant, and keeping a wedging function in almost no change condition, even though the position of the engaging member in the tapered space is changed according to the relative movements of an input member and an output member. SOLUTION: In a friction engagement type of clutch mechanism in which an auxiliary torque is transmitted to a steering system by converting an input member 32b and an output member 34 in the engaging and the nonengaging conditions by an engaging member 62 which is engaged or nonegaged to the friction engaging surface of a tapered space 61 by a wedging function, the output member is installed movable in the diameter direction to the input member, and at the same time, a taper angle correcting part 34d is formed to the friction engaging surface, in order to make the wedging angle at the abutting part of the engaging member constant, even through the position of the engaging member in the tapered space is changed following the relative movements of both members.</p>
