PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally control the quantity of light on evulsion of an endoscope from the body, by inputting a diaphragm position detecting value from a light source device and setting a light adjusting signal to adjust the quantity of light of the light source device to make a light adjusting signal. SOLUTION: A diaphragm 25 of a light source device 8 adjusts the quantity of illuminating light via a condenser lens 23 by a motor 24, a comparator 27 controls the diaphragm 25 comparing a light adjusting signal from a signal processing device 7 with a reference value 26, and a diaphragm position detecting circuit 28 detects the position of the diaphragm 25 controlled by the comparator 27 and outputs the position to the signal processing device 7. A light quantity setting circuit 32 of the signal processing device 7 sets the set light quantity value of the light source device 8 based on the integrating result at an integrator 31, a gain adjusting circuit 33 performs gain adjustment based on the diaphragm detecting signal from the diaphragm position detecting circuit 28, and an adder-subtractor 35 adds/subtracts the output of the gain adjusting circuit 32 and the output of the light quantity setting circuit 32 via a switch 34 to produce a light adjusting signal to output the comparator 27.
