PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine capable of suppressing the production of Ig E antibodies by including an ingredient obtained from the capsules of bacteria belonging to the genus Klebsiella. SOLUTION: This medicine contains the capsular ingredient of a bacterium belonging to the genus Klebsiella, especially Klebsiella oxytoca or Klebsiella pneumoniae, or an ingredient obtained by treating the capsular ingredient with an acid, a base or a reducing agent. The Klebsiella oxytoca TNM 3 strain and the Klebsiella pneumoniae k 19 strain have each polysaccharides expressed by the formula (L-Rha is L-rhamnose residue; D-Gal is D-galactose residue; D-Glc is D-glucose residue; D-GlcUA is D-glucuronic acid residue; the numeric character in the small parentheses expresses the position of the glycoside bond). The medicine is useful as a medicine for prophylaxis and treating I type allergies. |
