<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in high purity and yield by reacting a specific unsaturated carboxylic acid with a specific triorganosilane in the presence of at least one kind of catalyst selected from copper and copper compounds. SOLUTION: This compound of formula III (R<11> and R<12> are each H, methyl, etc.; R<13> is H, methyl, etc.) is obtained by reacting an unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g. acrylic acid, methacrylic acid) of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each H, methy, etc.; R<3> is H, methyl, etc.) having 0.5-3 molar equivalents of carboxyl group with a triorganosilane of formula II (R<5> and R<6> are each an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, etc.) in the presence of at least one kind of catalyst selected from among copper and copper compounds (e.g. copper oxide, copper suboxide, copper hydroxide, copper carboxylate, copper alkoxide, etc.) at 0.005-0.5mol, in terms of copper element, per mole of the organosilane at-20 to 250 deg.C, in an industrially advantageous way, with no reduction of the double bond of the polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid.</p> |
