摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic composite material capable of enhancing the strength of the entire material while making use of the advantage of the increase of crack propagation resistance in the case of combination with fibers by combining fibers having higher elasticity than a ceramic matrix with fibers having lower elasticity than the ceramic matrix and arranging them in the ceramic matrix. SOLUTION: This ceramic composite material consists of a ceramic matrix 1 and ceramic fibers 2 arranged in the matrix 1. The ceramic fibers 2 are fibers 3 having a higher elasticity than the ceramic matrix 1 and fibers 4 having a lower elasticity than the matrix 1. The higher elasticity fibers 3 are preferably long SiC fibers whose compsn. is considered to be the stoichiometric compsn. of SiC or long SiC fibers formed by CVD using carbon as a core material. The lower elasticity fibers are preferably long Si-C-O fibers or long Si-C fibers.
