PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain the subject compound that is useful as a starting substance for high molecular weight coagulant or additive for paper by allowing ammonium (meth)acrylate to contact with a microorganism that can convert it to (meth)acrylamide. SOLUTION: (A) An ammonium (meth)acrylate is allowed to contact with a microorganism that can convert the ammonium salt to an acrylamide, for example, a strain of Brettanomyces, Hansenula, Kluyveromyces, Pachysolen, Rhodotorula, Saccharomyces and Torulopsis in an aqueous medium at 0-40 deg.C to inexpensively produce the objective (meth)acrylamide of high purity useful as a high molecular weight coagulant, secondary and third crude oil-recovering agent, and a chemical for paper. |
