FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: in building on non-embedded foundation slab with reinforcement band at covering level, reinforcement of slab and band is made of variable cross-section. Parameters of reinforcement in foundation slab at each point are varied in compliance with envelope epure of stresses in slab and band. Forces are determined from principle of minimal potential energy of deformation in following system: ground - foundation slab - structure above foundation at various settling of ground. Parameters of reinforcement cross-section in band are equal to part of parameters of cross-section of slab reinforcement which takes normal forces at settling of ground. Aforesaid arrangement is directed at adding longevity of structures above foundation and ensuring normal conditions for carrying out technological processes inside building. In addition, amount of materials used is reduced. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 11 dwge
