Apparatus for imposing a predeterminable load moment on the jib of a crane in order to test load moment safety means comprises a beam 1, pivotally mounted about a fulcrum 3 on a stand 4 and guided in its vertical movement in a stand 5, and a weight trolley 10 for varying the load imposed by the beam 1 on a hook suspended from the jib of the crane and attached to a hook trolley 7. The dead load of the beam is balanced by a counterweight 15 on the stand 5. The trolleys 7 and 10 are driven by motors through chain drives 8 and 11 along the top 6 and bottom 9 of the beam 1. The driver moves the trolleys by remote control mechanism 14 which can be taken into his cab from which he can view devices 12, 13 indicating the positions of the trolleys. |
