FIELD: timber and wood working industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed device is designed for setting into action device for delivering longer length of timber, for into instance, logs, into cross feeders for reciprocating displacement of feeder where feeder is designed for piece-by-piece delivery of timber lengths from point of reception to point of discharge. Device is of stage design. Feeder has receiving stage member able to provide reciprocation between initial position in which upper part of reception stage member surface is at one level with reception point and discharge position, and discharge stage member which moves backward and forward between discharge position in which upper part of discharge stage member surface is at one level with discharge point and its reception position, and one member or more additional stages. Feeder operates in known machinery with use of hydraulic cylinders, crank gears and connecting chains to provide reciprocating motion under action of electric motors. Such machineries are of complex design, are slow acting ones and consume mush power. According to proposed invention feeder has crank gear which sets into action stage members. EFFECT: enhanced operation reliability, reduced power consumption. 4 cl, 4 dwga
