The coupling rod (1) connects pivoted engaging arcs of belt connectors for the ends of transporter belts. It has a flexible rod axis with a rod jacket (3) wound round its axis (2) spirally. The rod jacket is made of a hard abrasion-resistant material. The rod jacket may be made of an austenite manganese hard steel or of tungsten steel with a preset carbon content. The rod axis may be in the form of a steel cable or of a cable composed of steel strands.
