The valve control acts via two camshafts (2,3) and an operating lever (5). The travel of the lever is limited by an adjustable stop (16) which includes a stop bolt (17). The adjustable stop may be self-setting, levelling out the play in the valves. The adjustable stop element may be fitted to the valve operating lever. There may valve play setting elements supporting the valve operating lever on the valves. The valve play levelling out elements may be self-setting.
