The reflector for an annular light source or an elongated one with two limbs has the contour formed at least partly out of evolute sections, whereby two sections touch each other in a crest point. The contour has in total four evolute sections of which each two evolutes of opposing direction are assigned to one limb of the light source. The arrangement is rotationally symmetrical or axisymmetrical relative to an axis that is stretched out between the two limbs. The crest point lies "in approximately on" the straight lines connecting the middle of the limbs so that a longer and a shorter evolute section is assigned respectively to one limb.
