The device has a platform (A), which consists of two or more horizontal surfaces (B1,B2) on which newspapers, etc. are stacked. The surfaces are fastened to side pieces (S) such that one or more parallel or cruciform slots are formed between them. Binding twine, tape or adhesive tape may be inserted through the slots and run around the stacked paper on the platform, without moving the stack from the shelf. The device may have one or more stabilising elements (B1,B2), so that the platform is secured in position.
