Locking mechanism for automatic sliding, folding or telescopic doors

The doors may be locked by electromagnetic armatures in the floor beneath the outside edges of the doors which may be activated electrically to lift up and engage recesses in the lower edge of the doors. A pair of sliding doors (1,2), of usual construction, have electromagnets (10) embedded in the lower edges at a point where they meet and supplied by leads (8) terminating at the top edge at contacts (7,9) made when the doors are in the closed position. Plastic and ferromagnetic armature assemblies (13,12) are installed in the floor beneath the electromagnets and are lifted when the electromagnets are energised to engage corresponding recesses in the lower edge of the doors.
