摘要 <p>The method of the invention is based on a definition that the probability distribution of a pulse stream from ionizing-radiation detectors is not consistent with the classical Poisson distribution, but is consistent with gamma-distribution and uses the properties thereof. For carrying out the method, a time interval between successive pulses is taken as a unit of measurement. Using a preset statistical measuring error, a number of interpulse time intervals to be measured is calculated, thereafter a sequence of the time intervals is measured and, immediately after measurement of each time interval in the course of the measuring process, the influence of the time interval on mathematical expectation of the variables being measured is determined, the mathematical expectation is then formed while correcting for the influence of the measured time interval with due account of the typical features of the detector's type used, and after completion of the measurement cycle, the mean intensity of a pulse stream from ionizing-radiation detectors is determined using the reciprocal of the mathematical expectation.</p>
