The printing mechanism is for a press with a cleaning device against which a cylinder can be set for cleaning, with a roll in a casing in the region of an aperture facing the cylinder, with cleaning fluids supply and wiping-off batten. The cleaning device extends along the length of the cylinder surface. The lower region of the casing (5) is in the form of a trap bath (6) which can be detached from the upper region of the casing. This bath may run on rails (7), and may have a seal (9) between it and the upper part of the casing.
