The device has a spindle (4) which runs through the table plate, and a casing (2) which is close to the spindle or milling tool (6). The casing has an opening (8) for catching the chips, between two side walls (10,12) that have vertical T-section grooves (34,36). One groove (36) is open in order to receive or clamp a start-up beam (42). The other grooves (34) are open towards each other and can receive or clamp an arc-milling attachment. Beams (26,28) may also be provided for being fitted in the side wall grooves.
