The auxiliary transmission (10) has a fixed transmission casing (12), a drive shaft (16) projecting axially into it, a driven shaft (18) projecting axially out of it and a planetary transmission (20) with a sun wheel (22) fixed to the drive shaft and several planet wheels (26). The planet wheels, engaged with the sun wheel, turn on a planet wheel carrier (28). A gear crown encircles the planetary wheels and is engaged with them. A coupling element (40) round the planet wheel carrier can be moved axially between two positions, one connecting the carrier to the casing and the other connecting the carrier to the driven shaft.
