The control or regulating system is a zero point reference system in the press which is closed as far as contact with the steel plate press-bands (5) near the pressing gap. At least some of the press frames operate as controls for the width of pressing-gap. The zero point regulating distances are obtained and stored in a calculator possessing a program. The corrected values for the regulating distances are obtained mechanically by setting individually each of the control press frames (8) to keep the panels smooth and equidistant.
