The system has a master cylinder (2) that co-operates with a simulator (30) and an electronically controlled pressure source which is connected to the master cylinder by a hydraulic connection which has a block valve (16). The system also has a device that detects the driver's required supply, inlet and outlet valves (12-15) for both the wheel brakes (7,8), as well as wheel sensors (27,28). The inlet and outlet valves are arranged in a valve block (24) and are electromagnetically actuated. At the exit of the inlet valves a hydraulic capacitance (33) is provided, where the line that leads to the wheel brakes is connected, and which makes possible the accommodation of the pressure medium during a control action.
