Disclosed is a method of brightness control on video camera mounted fixedly, enabling an optimal brightness level to be obtained, especially under unfavourable conditions. For that purpose, measurement areas in the picture are assessed, and such assessment is taken into account in calculating a correction factor to adjust the camera brightness parameters.
